Canoeing, or Kayaking as it is more popular known in Sri Lanka, is definitely an interesting way to sample Sri Lanka’s rivers, canals, lakes, reservo
irs, lagoons and swamps. Or try an expedition along the coast in the larger sea kayaks!
For a relaxing journey, choose a short trip on the more placid waters of the lakes and reservoirs – paddle out, around and back.
For a more adventurous ride, take a tour (typically half a day, but can even be multi-day with camping) down a river and explore the life – both wild and civilized – on the riverbanks and in the river itself. Any waterway free of rocks is suitable for kayaking, although of course you need more skill to navigate more turbulent areas!
We provide fiberglass sit-on-top style kayaks, with moulded seats and footwells, available in 1- and 2-man versions, inclusive of waterproof storage hatches. Depending on the weight, a 3rd person could also be accommodated as a non-paddling passenger. Paddles and life jackets are also provided. |
