We will be starting this canoe ride ,from "Rathnapura"- known for its gems, and end up at a place named "Krugammodara" or "Ellagawa".
The route consists in 2 parts and depending on experience, your group can decide where to end the ride.
Part 1: 2 hours long (Ratnapura-Kurugammodara) 15 km.
This section is comparatively easy and do not require any special canoeing skills. Along the route you will be able to see many vegetation types / changing landscapes. Just passing populated "Rathanapura" town area, riverbank environment becomes more scenic and quite with lonely sand collectors' houses surrounded by thick vegetation and palm trees! During most of the ride only noises you are going to hear are the birds' calls and the sound that will make by your paddle.

Part 2: 1 hour long (Kurugammodara-Ellagawa) - 18 km
From here the adventure starts to buildup and you need previous canoeing experience to negotiate this section of the river. River bends will make the water flow rough and your canoe also will be bit shaky and unsteady.
Finishing 17 km, the real adventure of this day starts! At Ellagawa the river becomes very fast with a strong rapid and swirls. At this point you have to give your best skills and concentration to negotiate the river.
